Can you change your weekly injection day for Wegovy or Zepbound?
Moving a weekly injection day can make treatment easier during work, holidays or travel. But the spacing between doses matters. The FDA labels for Wegovy injection and Zepbound give different minimum intervals for changing the scheduled day.
What is the Zepbound rule?
The Zepbound prescribing information allows changing the weekly injection day provided there are at least 72 hours (three days) between two doses. That is an interval rule, not permission to take multiple doses closer together to catch up.
What is the Wegovy injection rule?
The Wegovy injection instructions allow the day of weekly administration to be changed if the time between two doses is at least 48 hours (two days). These instructions apply to the indicated injection formulation, not automatically to semaglutide tablets.
What if you also missed a dose?
Missed-dose instructions are separate from planned day changes. Follow the exact product's missed-dose guidance, especially if more than one scheduled dose was skipped. Don't combine rules for two different drugs.
What if you recently had side effects?
If severe nausea or other concerning symptoms are prompting the change, discuss the situation with your prescriber rather than focusing only on timing. A clinician may need to consider treatment tolerability.
How can you avoid confusion?
Document the last actual injection date, not just the old scheduled weekday. Review the product label and confirm the next planned date if you are unsure. This is particularly important when switching drugs or devices.
The bottom line
Wegovy injection and Zepbound have different minimum intervals for a planned change of injection day; never assume their schedules are identical.
