Missed Wegovy or Zepbound doses: what do the labels say?
Missing a dose can happen during travel, illness or a pharmacy delay. The official product labels have specific instructions, and they are not identical for every injection or tablet. Using another drug's schedule could create avoidable problems.
For a single missed Wegovy injection
The Wegovy injection label describes what to do based on how close the next scheduled injection is: if the next dose is more than 48 hours away, take the missed dose as soon as possible; if less than 48 hours remain, skip it and resume the normal schedule. Follow the current label for your exact formulation.
For multiple missed injections
After two or more consecutive Wegovy injection doses are missed, the current prescribing information includes reinitiating dose escalation at a lower dose to reduce gastrointestinal reactions. Contact your prescribing team rather than assuming it is safe to restart at your old dose.
For Zepbound injections
The Zepbound label specifies a separate missed-dose window of up to four days (96 hours). If more than four days have passed, the missed dose is skipped; two doses should not be taken within three days (72 hours) of each other. Confirm the current instructions for your particular device and any extended interruption.
Pills are different
Wegovy tablets have daily administration and missed-dose instructions that differ from weekly injections. Confirm the formulation before following advice. If you have missed several doses, or have been unwell, ask the pharmacist or prescriber for an individualized restart plan.
The bottom line
Do not double up or guess a restart dose. Use the current label for your exact medicine and ask a professional when the interruption is prolonged.
